History of Charlotte
In 1969, the city of Charlotte was established and named after the Queen Charlotte, who was the King George III wife. In 1775, the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence was signed in order to be free from British rule. There was a gold rush in 1799 after someone found out the gold nuggets. The city gradually became the mining town, with the US Mint being established here. Later, the gold rush died due to non-availability of gold.
Charlotte in the late 1880s was considered as the center for textiles. The hydroelectric power and the railroad were set up near Charlotte. In 1903, Charlotte turned into a textile producing center. Many developments happened in the city, and soon the city got a significant spot on the business and industry map of the United States. Later, Charlotte became the financial hub. Presently, Charlotte is the major United States financial center, and second largest banking hub in the US.
